John Zorn was born in Houston, and as a teenager played piano, guitar and flute.
Just after releasing albums on several American and European labels, Zorn signed with the Elektra-Nonesuch label and attracted wide acclaim in 1987 with our interpretations of cinema composed by Ennio Morricone, the album [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] in 1990 and the first album by Naked City in 1990.
Early minor compositions included several "game pieces", in which performers are allowed to imagine while following certain structural rules.
